Guest guest
It is possible to start dumping as a late post-op!!! I am 2.5 years post-op and I am sitting here " wishing " I could be sick...as in vomit! I am dumping BIG TIME....this is the first time I can honestly say I have " seriously " dumped since my surgery.....HELP!!! In the past I have had a feeling of sort of 'yuck' at times, it never really bothered me. Well, right now, I am sitting precariously on the edge of my chair, trying not to even blink because I have never felt so rotten!!! It is my own fault, I ate something I shouldn't have. New York small fries with the works! I have eaten them before, not often, but have never had this type of reaction. ohhhhhhhhmggggggg! To anyone who dumps, other than lying down and waiting for it to pass, what can a person do??? I think this is another lesson learned, the hard way, but if I EVER see a french fry again, it will be too soon! Guest guest
Don't know from personal experience about late post-op dumping but I've heard that you can " make your self dumpable " so to speak. I have dumped from the beginning often times on stuff that I never would have dreamed would cause it (i.e. baked potato). All that I've ever been able to do is flop down on the bed, moan and groan very loudly, and alternately wish to die and promise to never do it again if I could just live. Sorry that I can't help you out any more than that but I have heard of people " curing " a dumping episode by eating peanut butter (ewwwwwwww, nasty) but I figured that the cure was worse than the cause. I'm almost 15 months out, never had a honeymoon, did not dump, did not experience that time of no hunger and the weight just falling off. I lost 85 pounds the first year and stopped. The last 4 to 6 weeks I have very little interest in eating. I'm more interested in cooking for others, but it holds little appeal for me. Sweets have always been my biggest weakness, and now they are rather repulsive. I ate something sweet the other day at lunch and got sick as a dog within 2 minutes. I've lost 2 more pounds in the last couple weeks and I keep hoping and hoping the loss will start again. B

I never really ate the stuff with the sweet sauces, but at about 2 years out, I ate an egg roll, and got a lay-down-in-a-fetal-position-until-it-passes horrible pain. I'm guessing it was the grease. Some may say this wasn't dumping, but it's not gallbladder either, so then what is it? in NJ
Guest guest
, It WAS dumping. I rarely have vomited. Maybe 6 times in a year and a half. I dump, just like you describe. Guest guest
You can get a spasm of the common bile duct (that leads into where the gall bladder was) from the grease or from something else unknown, or even a gall stone in the duct, that can cause the same kind of severe, intense pain similar to gall bladder pain, even though we no longer have a gall bladder. Aren't we lucky? doc carolyn Re: First Dump!! In a message dated 11/23/2002 6:34:24 PM Eastern Standard Time, klm403@... writes: > << It is possible to start dumping as a late post-op!!!
