Guest guest
Ok gang - I am hoping to get some guidance here. I am between health insurance policies (job change) and need to hold out going to the doc for a week. Every time I have eaten a meal for the last three or four days I have ended up with excrutiating pain. This pain is in the entire circumfrence of the middle of my torso. My tummy bloats up terribly. I take a huge dose of gasex and it passes (no pun intended - but that was funny). Tonight it happened in a restaurant and Jon and I had to go out to the car. My poor parents were petrified - so were my kids, so was Jon. Anyhow after a nice big burp it starts to fade and then goes away. I can't imagine that EVERY food I eat is causing gas. Just doesn't make sense. Tonight after the episode I actually feel whatever food was causing the problem making it's way down my intestinal tract. I am considering a laxative just in case something is blocked up, however I am pooping (love this list - I can tell you guys anything). Now for the facts - I am 3 years (12/9/99) out from a proximal open RNY. I have never had any complications. In May, when I thought I was gaining weight, I had my mechanics checked and all was well. Doc says the weight gain was due to weight training and a little bounceback. I have several special occasions over the next week (Thanksgiving, First Night of Chanukkah, company x-mas party...) and can't imagine not eating at all - but will do what I have to do to avoid the ER until after coverage kicks in 12/1. BTW - protein shakes go down fine... Thanks in advance for any help you all can offer. Marjie
