Re: Pain after surgery

Run, don't walk, and go make an appointment with a registered massage

therapist. The pain could be referred from the jaw. I just had an

emerg session with mine, my neck was getting extremely sore, she says

it could be from clenching. At any rate, she's really good at making

it feel better. I also saw my chiropractor this morning, and he did

his usual neck adjustments which help too. I'm going back to him on

Wednesday. I go back to the massage therapist in two weeks.

Stress has a habit of landing in my neck, shoulders, arms. I can

relate. The pain can be anywhere from the base of the skull all the

way down the neck, shoulders, through the collarbone and down the

arms, there's a big nerve that runs all the way through that area.

Make sure you tell whomever you see how long ago you had jaw surgery,

it may not be appropriate for them to put you on your face and apply

pressure. I didn't go to my massage therapist for 6 weeks post-op,

and it was almost 10 weeks before I went back to the chiropractor.

They can do some things, though, I think it's a good idea to seek

this kind of help. It sure beats pain meds and anti-inflamms.

Hope that helps,
