Guest guest
Oh, thank you so much for the replies - I am relieved! The stinging eyes were the only post-surgery issue that I thought might be abnormal. Plus, I forgot to take my contact lenses out right before they put me under, and although the surgeon and nurse checked me out and assured me they must have come out on their own because there were no signs of them anywhere, I feared they were stuck somewhere. Thank you for your help! Also, can anyone tell me how long you should sleep in an upright position? It's only been a few nights, but already my back is starting to feel it. Thanks again - this group is great! Meredith > > Hi everyone, > > > > I just had surgery on Friday, 3/26, on my upper jaw for an open > > bite. Guest guest
i would think, and this is just my opinion, that you should sleep upright until the swelling has subsided. it started to bother me too, so just this weekend, i started sleeping normally (i usually sleep on my side) and i've done fine. i do have to be careful b/c if my head isn't positioned right, i'll wake up feeling sore. i hope i'm okay doing this, but i figure if i'm not in pain and my swelling is gone, i'm okay. > > > Hi everyone, > > > > > > I just had surgery on Friday, 3/26, on my upper jaw for an open > > > bite. It's only been a few nights, but already my back is > starting to feel it. I'm in this stage right now. Try a small pillow behind the small of your back, and maybe a rolled up towel behind your neck. One under your knees might keep you from sliding down. Also pillows to either side of you in whatever position helps. I'm in a lazy boy, and while I can't say I'm comfortable, I am getting sleep. I can sort of half turn on either side if I use pillows to hold me up. Kris
