Guest guest
Belinda, You asked what doctor do you ask to have neuropsychology testing done. This is one of those easy answers that you have to laugh at afterwards. You need to get a referal from your neurologist or GP to see a neuropsychologist. The neuropsychologists will most likely meet with you, get your story, get to know you, decide what tests to concentrate on, and then have her assistant run a battery of tests for at least three hours (tests can be longer). It is quite tiring and upsetting if you notice an area in which you are having trouble. So, know that aspect going in. It is definately worth it, though, in my opinion. By isolating areas of your brain in testing, the doctor can really start forming a picture alongside your history and symptoms of what is going on. After the doctor gets a chance to review your results, she will have you come back in and review them with you. This is a most helpful process. From there, you can get referrals, if you need them, to other specialists to work on given problems. And the neuropsychologist may have her own bits of advice as well such as a palm pilot, etc. And certainly, your neurologist will want to see the results Good luck. And let us know how it goes. Guest guest
Zac, Verbal testing for husband Jan was a prelim procedure at both private clinic and huge Shreveport VA facility to screen emotional or chemical disorders responding to meds, counseling or institutional regimens as opposed to tumors, lesions and atrophy which might be helped by surgery. I was informed by Vanderbilt harvest teams that in their experience MSA plus frontal-temporal atrophy was rare. Physical performance tests evaluating balance, eye and hand coordination, flexibility were office procedures also and preceeded specialist scheduling. No degenerative condition is a stroll in the park. Start early to plan your future. Best of luck to you. LA Louise in Springhill where the downtown big black bear was entertained kindly, watched over while he slept in trees in crowded neighborhoods, and gently streered to deeper woods because there is a Lumberjack Festival this weekend. Guest guest
Ok Zac, Thank you! You are right that was an easy answer. Sometimes I need help desperately! I have a psychologist already. I wonder if I shouldn't ask her if she does that. I think I will since I like her so much. I probably have to have an order wrote by my neurologist though. So many things to do. So many tests. So tiring. I don't know if they could get me to stay awake for 3 hours to take a test. I am usually only good for 2 or 21/2 before crashing especially if I have to do a lot of thinking. Well, enough of my problems. Thank you for your help. Oh one more thing I have noticed my left arm wanting to lay on my chest. Should I not allow that to happen while I can? God bless, Belinda > > , > > I have never been neuropsychology tested but I sound just like > this. > > At Supper time I have to be able to get my food first before anyone > > comes in there or I do bezerk.
