Guest guest
okay, so i'm two weeks post-op... totally wired for the full six so i have four more weeks to go. i keep trying to yawn and you know how hard it is to fight a yawn. a few have gotten through despite my efforts to stifle them, and its uncomfortable, but not painful. am i screwing myself up by doing this? how do i stop??? i think one of my wires in the back feels a little loose... not like its going to come off, its just looser and i can wiggle my lower jaw a little bit (a VERY little bit). anyone else have the same problem? Guest guest
--- hi there, i am three weeks post op now after having upper and lower. I have been having exactly the same problem am u.although i am not wired i have been worried about the damage i maybe be causing especially since my ortho informed me that i should try not to. he suggested that when i feel the urge coming on i should close my mouth tightly and let the feeling pass. its hard but it does work. he also suggested that if i do have to yawn to place my hands on either side of my face just to give it that extra bit of support. hope this helps stace
Guest guest
I had a similar problem when I was banded. I didn't yawn, but I was having coughing fits. I could feel the bands stretch, and then I felt like my splint was loose or my jaw bones had moved or something. I told my surgeon at my next appointment (a few days later) and he said, " OK. " I had freaked out about it--convinced that my jaw bone was crooked and all, and he wasn't a bit concerned. lol. So, I'd say don't worry, but mention it to the doc at your next appt. But see what other people say ...
