Guest guest
I was recently told that I needed to have Orthognatic Surgery to correct my underbite and asymmetric lower jaw. While I would love to have " perfectly aligned " teeth, I am afraid of what my face will look like after the surgery. Though I was told that the surgery will boost my self-esteem and improve my facial appearance, and though I have seen many Before & After photos of happy, pleased recipients, I am still a little skeptical. With that said, I was hoping that someone who had, or performs, Orthognathic Surgery could help. Is what I have been told true? Were you or anyone you know unsatisfied with the results? What are, if any, disadvantages of Orthognatic Surgery? Your reply would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Guest guest
hi. i just had upper and lower jaw surgery two weeks ago. my lower jaw was moved back and my upper jaw was tilted down. i did notice after the surgery that my chin is smaller. it was kind of weird to look at at first, but also i was very swollen, so i just looked funny anyway. but now that the swelling is gone... i honestly don't really feel like i look any different. i can still tell that my chin is smaller but i have to really look closely to see it. i still look like me and i've almost forgotten what i looked like before. of course, some people's cases are more severe, so the change in appearance is more obvious in others. ask your surgeon about your case. mine did a composite of what my profile would look like post- op so i had a good idea of what to expect. and to answer your other question... i am very satisfied with the results. i was a little self-conscious of my chin before and now its all little and cute. even though i am still wired and a little frustrated that i can't eat normal foods, i have no regrets about having the surgery. take care, heather > > I was recently told that I needed to have Orthognatic Surgery to > correct my underbite and asymmetric lower jaw.
