Guest guest
Thanks Carol and Zak for answering about the nightime high BP. Chuck tried midodrine back in 1998, but I don't think the internist had a clue how to start it. Seems it should be gradual. Anyway, Chuck took it a couple of days, had tingly scalp and funny head feeling and stopped it. Might try that again, now that we've all had more experience. Now, we'll move the Florinef up earlier in the day, might help with the daytime hypotension too. Also will raise the bed a little, but I don't want Chuck sliding out the bottom. Just a quick word to all who are having especially hard times right now. I feel so much for you all but don't have the time to speak to each individual. It seems that the group is doing its best supporting right now. Barbara Woodford (Illinois)
Guest guest
Barbara, The tingly/itchy scalp thing is a side effect of midodrine. I don't know why, but lots of people have it. It's not necessarily a sign that blood pressure has gone too high. Rob hasn't complained of it recently though, so maybe it goes away over time. By the way, just so you can calibrate, Rob takes midodrine 3 times a day - 10 mg at 8:00AM (usually before he's out of bed), 10 mg at 12:30PM and 10 mg at 4:30 PM. This is kind of on the high side compared to others I have read about, but it works for him. Guest guest
Barbara, Al takes 2 florinef tabs after breakfast with a salt tablet, & 2 after lunch with salt tablets. The dosage of the florinef is .01 mg. We had the head of the bed raised and we both slid off the bottom, I went to a surgical supply store and got a wedge, it goes for 0 at waist to 7 " at the head.
