INSURANCE VICTORY!

Well, after weeks of agony, fighting, and clawing with United

Healthcare, I've finally been approved for upper & lower surgery. I

was originally denied coverage nearly 1 week before my scheduled

surgery date (Monday, March 8), even after being covered last June

2003 for my SARPE. I pretty much knew that after they covered my

first procedure, that they really had no leg to stand on in denying

my appeal.

I must say, that had it not been for this message board, I would not

have been 1/2 as prepared as I was. Based on most people's

experiences, I actually expected the original denial...how's that for

optimism! UHC even lost my first appeal package (sent via FedEx &

signed for by a UHC employee), as another person on the board had

mentioned. These insurance companies are incredible!

But my employers' HR & benefits department and UHC account manager

all got involved, and it got done. My constant barade of phone calls

and emails certainly helped move things along too.

So now, I'm waiting to hear from my OS for the surgery date, which I

think may be in the next 2-3 weeks. He's been so great during this

whole insurance ordeal, telling me that he will try to schedule me

for the OR on his un-scheduled time. So now I just want to focus on

getting the surgery over with and beginning my recovery.

Thanks to everyone for their support in getting me this far and I

hope all those pre & post op'ers are doing well. Looking forward to

making it to the other side.

Regards,
