Guest guest
For those who are interested, and not offended by nudity, I have updated my reconstructive surgery photos with one year photos (although I did figure out how to use the paintbrush to hide the naughty bits on the one year photo!). You know, when I look at my body I am often dissatisfied, but when I see it in photos, I feel much better!! http://hometown.aol.com/kateseidel/PlasticSurgeryPhotos.htmlhttp://homet\ own.aol.com/kateseidel/PlasticSurgeryPhotos.html Kate
Guest guest
Kate the PS photos are very interesting. The difference is amazing, but I still am having trouble with thinking about the pain and discomfort. Maybe next year for me. Guest guest
Kate, You look absolutely fantastic! Did you have a thigh lift also? My thighs are jelly, but they didn't bother me too much until my abdominoplasty. Now, the thighs and hips look awful! I'll just wait a couple of months until I'm out of these compression garments to see if everything kind of blends together a bit, though. I guess you could say I have the thighs of a 50-year-old, which I am. ) in NJ open RNY 8/99 306/164/whatever TT and lipo 11/19/
Guest guest
So much may have to do with age or maybe not having yo-yo'ed the way I (and maybe you) have or simple genetics. But, would you let me know what the doc says? I doubt there's an easy way to fix them with the loose skin. I just dread a thigh lift, especially since the results are so often less than satisfactory. The rest of my thighs look pretty bad to me (my daughter said yesterday, gee mom, you look normal in clothes, but your legs are gross!!), and it did somehow seem worse once the tummy was fixed. But, I don't think I'm going to have any more surgeries for a while. Kate
Guest guest
Dear , My plastic surgeon did agree that thighs were the biggest challenge, but he felt that he could get reasonable results when we cross that bridge. I have seen some thigh lifts with remaining hideous scars, both inside and outside the thighs. My surgeon proposes to make an incision above the thighs, remove the excess skin and then pull and tighten the thighs.. leaving the scar near the panty line.. Of course, I am just beginning to explore all my possibilities here.. and have only seen one surgeon so far. Take care Hugs, from GA open RNY 12/12/00 Revision 04/18/01 Revision 02/07/02 St wt.... 392 Cw.......187 Wt loss..-

Of course, I am just beginning to > explore all my possibilities here.. and have only seen one surgeon so far *********************************** I think it depends on how much skin has to be removed, etc. My thighs are jelly-like, wrinkly and generally ugly, but I don't have that heavy overhang or folds that create rashes or anything like that. Probably, anything would definitely be an improvement in that case, but I have heard of the panty line scar gravitating downward over time, and others who've had thigh surgery can probably be more specific. Also, having just had a TT, the nice torso just makes the thighs and hips look worse, so anyone who's on the fence about this should take it into consideration before having surgery. They're really probably not that bad, but age (I'm 50), yo-yo dieting and genetics are all factors in the way the skin looks and, in my case, they may not look as bad once the compression garments are off (I'm hoping, anyway). So, I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. Happy Turkey everyone! in NJ

Guest guest
Kate, BRAVO! Your surgeon did a wonderful job, and you obviously did your part to heal so well. Enjoy your new bod'! Fay, The pain and discomfort are minimal, compared to WLS. Except, perhaps, for batwings and inner thighs. I am told that they are real sources of discomfort for many more weeks than most folks would want to endure. --Steve (my plastics posted on the ossg-plasticsurgery site) At 3:37 AM -0500 11/27/02, fbayuk@... wrote: >still am having trouble with thinking about the pain and discomfort. A little benefit of needing that...LOL Well, I think your thighs look great, but I agree, after my breast reduc and turkey neck, that's it for me for a while, too. in NJ
Guest guest
Boy, I think plastic surgery pain varies widely from person to person. My Open RNY pain really wasn't bad, but though I am thrilled beyond thrilled with the results of the plastic surgery I've had thus far, it was much more painful in the first week than the RNY was. Of course, I had a lot done at the same time; extensive abdominoplasty (breastbone to pubis and about 300 degrees around), brachioplasty (batwings), two zones of liposuction (outer flanks and the top of my butt), and a burn scar revision in the small of my back, but the most painful places were where the lipo had been done. The incisions actually hurt LESS. The brachioplasty was nearly pain-free. I am in the same boat with everyone else... get that beautiful flat stomach (and mine IS beautiful!) and the thighs look like absolute hell. I'm getting my inner thighs lifted and my brachioplasty revised (I have one little tag in the armpit on one side, and I'm going to have him extend the incision about 3/4 " into my armpit so he can lift all the loose skin up from under my arms and next to my boobs) in January, and I'm not looking forward to the pain but I expect to be pleased with the results. My plastic surgery before and afters are also posted on the Yahoo! ossg-plasticsurgery page, in the Z folder. I need to add my 3 month afters there, and will do that as soon as I get them from Dr. Egrari.
