Guest guest
Hi folks - I'm currently going thru the " diagnosis " phase of my neurological condition. I've been suffering from severe fatigue and went to a neurologist strictly for the sleep analysis to see if my sleep patterns were somehow responsible for always being exhausted. I proceeded to fail my neurological test and then had an MRI. That pointed to " degenerative neurological disease " and then I had blood tests and a CT scan. The tests go on and on - but I like the neurologist and I appreciate the fact that he takes me and my description of problems (I have taken nasty falls about 4 times for no apparent reason) seriously. I'm more concerned about the fatigue than anything else. At least for now. I'm anxious to hear about anything that has proved helpful to others in fighting the fatigue. Thanks! Guest guest
Greetings Amy! Sorry you needed to find us, but glad we are here. You may want to talk with your neurologist about the fatigue problems. There are medications that can help with this. However, if you have not already had a sleep study done that might be the next best step. Especially if your spouse or loved ones complain about snoring or movement during your sleep. Otherwise, some patients use medications to help increase their alertness. Which one your doctor prescribes depends on the exact description of your symptoms. For instance, I suffered from a terrible 'fogginess' most days, especially during work. My neurologist suggested Wellbutrin to help, but I waited to see if it was a passing symptom. Six months later I decided I should try the medication. It worked. But that was not the same as what your 'fatigue' may be. Your neurologist will ask questions (and apparently really listen - keep this one!). From there you will work together to find the answer that works best for you. Regards, =jbf= B. Guest guest
Welcome Anne, I am glad that you are here, although I regret that you need to be here because of your medical problems. It sounds as though you have found a doctor who will listen. That is so important. I certainly understand that your greatest concern at this point is the fatigue, but I would encourage you to watch the falls also. They can cause you many problems. Best wishes to you, Marilyn in TN
Guest guest
Anne, Welcome to our group. I am sorry that you have a need to be here but glad you found us. The testing is hard on a body that isn't feeling well but it is very necessary. That might be causing part of your fatigue. I do not know of anything that will help your fatigue but if someone does I am sure they will let you know. Take care and praying that you find out your diagnoses soon.
