Guest guest
I was talking to Ruby today and she said she is having a hard time lifting Felix and I know it's not easy to lift Fred, but I just wonder if the men caregiver have a hard time lifting the woman that they are taking care of? You have anything that will help us woman move this large men? Pro or con's to the right way and the wrong. Just wondering Vera
Guest guest
Hey Vera, My mama has a hoyer lft but haven't had to use it! A good Idea that I use for her (when in bed) I put a big bath towel under her. It makes it so much easier to adjust and move her from many different angles. Just by pulling on the towel! Also we have worked alot of moves out- I like to pretend we are dancing when we move around. I find it easier for the both of us to face each other and she holds my waist and we move foot to foot side to side-It kinda is fun - I make her think we are doing a waltz! Guest guest
Hi Vera, lifting Anne when she is passed out is a difficult job. She is dead weight. She got some handles (lovehandles) but nothing to get a firm hold of. And I'm afraid to sqeeze to hard while lifting her. Also bad for the back to lift 60 kg. I best make it comfortable by putting her head on a pillow and give her a blanket. She comes by soon enough. Guest guest
Timo, We need to make a point here. Lifting a person under the armpits can hurt the patient. There are blts you can get from a physical therapist which tighten around the chest, they are very good for helping you lift anyone man or woman as they give you a good place to hold AND allow you to control the person. They are even good in first stages of balance problems as they help control without getting in the way. Everyone should have one NOW. Guest guest
Bill: There you go taken all of Timo fun away. Maybe he like those love handles. ). but really Bill I got my belt. I found it at a medical supply . Barb Selleck told me to get one when Fred started this game called "all fall down" and I was forever trying to get him up. Now that I have it , he hasn't fell. Goes to show how well it work. Take Care Vera Timo, We need to make a point here. Lifting a person under the armpits can hurt the patient. Guest guest
Vera, I can imagine trying to lift a man would be very difficult. I know someone mentioned a video tape to teach how to make moving someone on the lift easier. Sounds like a good idea. It probably would be easier if you can find away they might be able to help you while doing it also. I don't know since it might be they can't help you at all. Probably some can and some can't.
