Guest guest
Lou, I wish I could tell you that it is going to be ok next week, but from what I have seen, even with some plateaus, we are on a gentle to rapid decline. It sounds as though you and your husband may be close to the situation that my husband and I find our selves in. We are probably farther down the road than you. We tried the hoyer lift. I found that even with that lift it took two people to move my husband. He is tall and heavy and the Hoyer would tip over, if we got it even slightly out of balance so we used one person just to steady the Hoyer lift. About six months ago, we purchased (no insurance) a lift mounted to the rafters of our home. The company is Surehands. They are on the web and have a 1-800 number. They will send someone to your home to demonsrate. There are other companies and other models of lifts, but we felt that this one was the sturdiest. My husband, Speedy, was the most comfortable with this model and company. We purchased the lift even with him assuring me that we would only use it when we absolutely had to. We had almost waited too long. I do not know what we would be doing if we had not gotten the lift. I can not transfer him from one place to another without the lift. Even though his upper body strength had kept him going, that strength is almost gone as well. Maybe my words will assist you in some way.
