Guest guest
Hi Deb: You were asking .How does anyone know which wheelchair ,lift machine, et. is the best or easiest to use? When Fred''s doctor put in for the electric wheelchair for him, the insurance company sent out a man from rehab to check Fred out and see what he feels would work best for Fred. He got him the quickie G424. This link shows a picture of it and also the Jazzy http://accessiblelivingltd.com/wheelchairs.htm The quickie has alot of power and can turn around and get into small spots. Also if you let go of the contol stick, it will spot right away. Less chance of someone getting hurt that way. Fred's sister has the Jazzy 1122 but I haven't seen that one. Both of these are for someone over 250 lbs. Most are only up to 250lbs and over that weight they have to order a larger one. Anyway that is how we got Fred's Take Care Vera
Guest guest
A note about purchasing a wheelchair. I think it was Bill who suggested having an OT fit the patient for a wheelchair. I suggested this to my parents before they purchased my father's wheelchair, but they didn't take my advice. To make a long story short, the electric w/c that Medicare purchased didn't fit him well and they ended up buying a different w/c with their own money. An OT worked with him before they purchased the second one and it was much better for him. --- FVJAMES@... wrote: > Hi Deb: > You were asking .How does anyone know which > wheelchair ,lift machine, et. is > the best or easiest to use? > When Fred''s doctor put in for the electric > wheelchair for him, the insurance > company sent out a man from rehab to check Fred out > and see what he feels > would work best for Fred. Guest guest
Thanks for the information. found a company that will accept our insurance but they don't have anyone who can come and measure me. On Monday, he will make some calls and see who can come and do this for us. Deborah A note about purchasing a wheelchair.
