Guest guest
Hi Kirsten: I will be four weeks post-op next Wednesday. And like you, I was nervous as well and that's perfectly normal. If you were not nervous, then we could talk. I had lower and upper jaw done along with a bone graft from my hip. My biggest suggestion is not to rush back to work or school. Take as much time as you need to heal. Your OS should have a good idea on when you can resume normal activities. Eat or drink enough to maintain energy, you will need that to heal faster! The hard part is refraining from activities you enjoyed before your surgery until you heal. With both jaws and a bone graft, my recovery time is longer then most, 12 weeks and then I will still fell numbness on my lower jaw. Good Luck Kirsten. Kev. Guest guest
Hey! A surgery buddy (sorta)! I'm having my rhinoplasty the 7th - I'm sooo excited! Barring any unforseen complications, it should be a breeze compared to jaw surgery. Sorry I can't really help you, though, Kirsten. I had upper and lower and genio, but you'll probably be pretty swollen too. Upper causes less swelling, but lots of congestion for a lot of people (I was pretty lucky). I didn't think I'd swell too much, since I'm pretty thin, but I looked sorta like Bill Bradley (one giant chin instead of multiple chins, lol). It went away pretty quickly though; within 3 weeks only people that knew me before could tell I was swollen. Sorry this was like the most worthless post ever, but I'm just so excited for Wednesday!
