Hello ,

I myself in my mamas situation, don't really think that she forgets to breathe, I notice though that when she is really concentrating on something (movement, lifting, pulling) she seems to want to hold her breath.

I also find that when she gets nervous (Doc Appt.) or if she feels in a rush her speech and her hands and arms are effected. Speech - more slurred, sometimes just no sound at the end but still moving her lips(I have learned to read and watch her lips as well anyway), Does not have any tremors or shaking but when this rushing happens she does have the shakes or fumbles! I just say " Mama slow down, it's OK take a deep breath, blow it out and start over and concentrate on 1 word at a time! Take a breath between each word! Just one of my little things! Hope maybe a little might help you.

Hello Amy:

Your experience with your mother is much like mine with Terry except you

have a few more side effects from the concentration on a task; i.e. effects

on hands and arms. Otherwise, the parallel are near perfect. Even the

recovery with a slow down cue. As someone else said, put it on the list of

symptoms.

As a sidelight, as I recall you live in or near Winston Salem. W/S is my

mother's home and I still have a few relatives living there. Have not been

able to visit for awhile.

Thanks for sharing.
