Guest guest
The front passenger seat (or rear seat) is removed from the vehicle and an aftermarket seat is placed in the car. Looks like a regular bucket seat. The seat sits on a rotating base.....lift a lever and it will rotate 90 degrees so the person sitting in it is facing out of the car. Then you use remote switch and the seat moves out of the car and lowers so it is easier to transferr from seat to wheelchair. Or....one can use the corony with the seat. This is a base that hooks into tracks on the seat. The corony has wheels on it and when the chair is then moved via the track onto the base it becomes a wheelchair. Leg rests and handle are attached and off you go. No need for transfers. When Jerry and I are going out in the car he will often transfer to the car seat in the house using grab bars and then I can put it on the tracks and send it into the car. The base is light enough for me to lift easily and put in back. We never need to transfer again until returning home. It makes it MUCH easier on me in and out of the car. I don't know if I could handle the cross country trip we are making without this seat. You can see some pictures of it on bruno's web site. Seeing it in person is the best way to get the true picture of how it works. Also nice that if I take the car out and Jerry is not with me there are no missing seats in the vehicle. With this seat he can also sit up front with me rather than in the back. No back seat driver for me!!! Guest guest
Jan: What a neato setup! Help me with " bruno's web site " as I don't recognize the lingo. Terry is not yet in need of such a device, but I can see it coming. My present car is a station wagon which handles the transport chair well. However, the car has many miles on it and I can see that a minivan is in my future, probably sooner rather than later. The setup you describe is the most functional and feature rich I have seen described so far. Thus, would appreciate more info. Thanks for the insight. Guest guest
, If you look at minivans, be SURE to consider that Terri will have trouble with higher seats. The Dodge/Chysler has the lowest seat height as it is built more as a car than a truck like most minis. I learned that from a fellow engineer whose wife had a stroke AND boy was I glad as MSA progressed and Charlotte got shorter. Of course if you get the lift seat, it should not matter. Take care, Bill ------------------------------------------- Sennewald wrote: > Jan: > > What a neato setup! Help me with " bruno's web site " as I don't recognize > the lingo. Guest guest
Jan, Thanks so much. Can you give me directions to bruno's? I did a search on google ( " bruno's website " ) and the bruno's they came up with was for a policeman in Guam!
Guest guest
Hi , Here's the site. www.bruno.com Click on " Products " on the top bar. Then click on Turning Automotive Seats (TAS). They show the Turny with the Corony base in one of the pictures. Not a great look at the product but they will send you information if you request it. There are several vehicles it will work in and some it will not work in. We were purchasing a new vehicle so we only looked at products that could be adapted. If you prefer cars over mini-vans it can go in some GM cars. We ended up with a Toyota mini-van and Toyota gave us $1000.00 back on the adapting of the vehicle. Most companies now have the $1000.00 adaptation refund. The product is expensive but of all the things we have bought this is the most useful product when it comes to mobility. If you need additional info let me know, I could take some photos of us getting Jerry in and out of the car and post them for you if it will help. Good Luck, Jan > > Jan- > > > > What are a turney seat and a corony base? > > > > > > > Sennewald Charlottesville, Virginia 434-244- 0018
Guest guest
Jan: Thanks for your comments. I shall take a look and request info. Hold off on the photos for now as I am just in the exploratory phase. Guest guest
I would like to add that the mini van was perfect for Jack because he was tall. I would help him stand and pivot and then he would just sit. However, my Dad is short and he finds it a little high for him at age 92 to get into the van and on the seat. So how tall a person is will make a difference on how easy the mini van is to get into. Hugs, Judy
Guest guest
Jan, Thanks about the info on the turny seat w/corony base. My husband has me sitting in the passenger seat next to him but he still tells me he doesn't need a back seat driver. hmmmm wonder why? hehe God bless, Belinda > > Jan- > > > > What are a turney seat and a corony base? > > > > > > > > > > In a message dated 06/21/2002 4:30:54 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > > bosendorfer88@y... writes: > > > > > > > a
Guest guest
Can't imagine why he would say that. You are so quiet, never talk unless spoken to, without opinion and basically, well boring???? He,he,he!!!! I think he has you sitting in the front cause you are way to much fun to waste on the back seat. Keeps him awake, aware and always on his toes. Hugs, Jan > > > Jan- > > > > > > What are a turney seat and a corony base? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > In a message dated 06/21/2002 4:30:54 PM Eastern Daylight Time, > > > bosendorfer88@y... writes: > > > > > > > > > > a
