Guest guest
It's called vasovagal reflex (sp?) and it can happen when a person stands up to fast, etc. I've passed out two times since my surgery.. the first time a few months after surgery.. the second time...8 months after while visiting my grandmother in the hospital (Yes standing in ICU.. great place to pass out). Anyhow.. the doctor basically told me it was because I wasn't drinking enough fluids, was dehydrated and the blood vessels in the leg fold in when they are dehyrated leaving them unable to push the blood back up to go to the brain. Lack of blood in the brain causes one to pass out. This was his explanation. I don't have the problem now that I make sure I get a fair amount of fluids each day. The hypoglycemia that I get causes a slightly different feeling than the passing out sensation. IT does cause lightheadedness, shakiness and a pang in my stomach. I've yet to pass out from my hypoglycemic episodes. Hope this helps some !!
