Guest guest
Hi all... I've read over the discussions regarding the small incisions on the outside of the mouth. I have 4 of them, one on each side of my jaw line, near me ears and two under my chin. I keep forgetting to ask my doctor what the were for again ( I know she told me, I just can't remember for some reason.) I saw a procedure similar to the ones we've all had on Discovery Health this morning and he had tiny tubes coming out of each side of his jaw to drain blood. But he had these even when he was awake and out of recovery. I KNOW I would have remembered having tubes sticking out of my face when I woke up. I vividly remember the tube down my nose! Unfortunately! Thanks, Cyndi
Guest guest
Do you have plates and screws? My surgeon (still waiting for new surgery date) said that small incisions are cut so the screw driver can attach the titanium plates because the screw driver can't fit inside the mouth at the correct angle. ~ > Hi all... Guest guest
I only had two, one on each side. I believe mine were used so that the doc could get exactly the angle he needed to position the screws. It may be that you needed another pair of screws, in a different place, or a plate of some sort. But that's why. He could not get the angle just so by working in the mouth alone. So he made a tiny cut, put his little tube (or trochar), hooked up his little drill and went to work. He spoke of having to do " more carpentry " on me because he also did that 3 mm mmovement to the right... Cammie > Hi all... Guest guest
That would make sense. Yep... I've got a face full of screws... approximately 18 of them, I think. I'm not sure about plates though. Thanks, Cyndi > > Hi all... I've read over the discussions regarding the small > > incisions on the outside of the mouth.
