Guest guest
i've been in braces for about 4 months now and my ortho and surgeon just gave me the final clearance for my operation and said the next step is to get surgery braces put on. i'll have to be in them for 30 days. my question is what are these braces and how do they differ from the ones i'm wearing now? also, the ones i'm wearing now are clear on top...will these new ones still be clear? thanks so much! kristin
Guest guest
i've never heard of surgery braces. i have clear braces too and i didn't need to have them replaced for surgery. its possible they just meant surgical hooks, which are hooks that they apply to your braces that the surgeon will use to wire your mouth shut. > i've been in braces for about 4 months now and my ortho and surgeon > just gave me the final clearance for my operation and said the next > step is to get surgery braces put on. i'll have to be in them for 30 > days. my question is what are these braces and how do they differ > from the ones i'm wearing now? also, the ones i'm wearing now are > clear on top...will these new ones still be clear? thanks so much! > kristin
Guest guest
Although I don't know, if you have brackets and wires in place, you'll probably get a new archwire -- it's large, and very stiff -- in each arch, and perhaps a nice assortment of surgical hooks to accommodate either the wiring or elastics, post op. (I got the wires, but not the hooks.) There was never a question of changing the brackets for me -- or if there was, I never heard anything about it.) The hooks bother some people, and don't faze others. I didn't have them until post op, and then they were a couple of big, loopy things my surgeon made with a few twists. Guest guest
I think most folks call them " surgical wires and/or hooks " C. > > i've been in braces for about 4 months now and my ortho and surgeon > > just gave me the final clearance for my operation and said the next > > step is to get surgery braces put on. i'll have to be in them for > 30 > > days. my question is what are these braces and how do they differ > > from the ones i'm wearing now? also, the ones i'm wearing now are > > clear on top...will these new ones still be clear? thanks so much! > > kristin
