Guest guest
Hi everyone Marjie has been in the hospital since Sunday early morning with severe abdominal pain of " unknown origin " . Actually, the medical (professionals??) don't know, but WE are pretty sure of what is happening. IN a nutshell - for the past 10 days, she has been experiencing severe abdominal pain within a half hour after eating. Not every time, and without reason or rationale. It emanates form the pouch area, and radiates around her entire torso to the back at the lower rib line. It has typically passed within an hour or two, but has had her writhing on the floor in tears. Gas-X has provided a very little relief. Some gas has moved (up and down) and that has provided moments of relief, and it eventually passes without any residuals. She has had a day or two without pains, but then it starts up again. Mild to moderate pain appeared again at t'giving dinner. ATe a small soft taco without incidence Friday afternoon. Chanukkah dinner passed w/o a prob. Sat afternoon the same inocuous taco sent her over the edge again. We cancelled our 18th anniversayr dinner that night. The pain only faded slightly, and continued in agonizing waves throughout the night. Sunday morning we went to Abington Hospital. for battery of tests the first test was negative (after an hour and a half) She is not pregnant. Gee thanks doc. (lol) X-rays - No apparent intestinal blockage. Ultrasound - No Gall bladder/liver/kidney involvement. All labs are NORMAL and within range of a normie. (she is SOOO diligent) The whole time - of course, we are chanting mechanical problem with surgery, even 3 years out. It took them a few hours of superiority to even begin to believe that we MAY have some knowledge that they didn't. They finally have given her pain medication to keep her comfortable and kept her overnight. An endoscopy is scheduled for sometime today as the GI guy who stated he has scoped WLS pts before didn't wnat a weekend skeleton crew to assist him b'cause of WLS. If they find the suspected (by MArjie& I) stoma obstruction (upper/lower/jj) or ulceration, they can address it right then and there. She could be home today, however, if the scoping is later in the day, she may stay an additional night. OK ONe day at a time. Flap those angel wings - you guys should stir up a category 4 or 5 wind . . . .. I will try and keep you posted.
