Guest guest
, You are right, this is an extreme surgery. But it sounds like you have already been through two other painful surgeries and what else is left to do to help your apnea? Is your lower jaw receded or small? What has the doc said about what they want to do to you? To answer the question about pain--I take it that you mean from the jaw surgery--- Yes it was painful, but I think more from the initial incisions and the swelling. Once those 2 things were improved, the jaw itself didn't really hurt. Kind of like a broken bone, once it is casted (in the case of the jaw-plates and screws), not much pain. I also had Somnoplasty to the base of the tongue during the jaw surgery to help reduce the mass of the tongue, to help clear the airway. Keep us posted as to what you decide to do. a > a, > > Thank you for your email message! > I have been using the CPAP machine, but can't sleep > for more than about 1 1/2 hours. > I also had two other operations: I had my deviated > septum corrected and my uvula removed. Guest guest
Hello , I know that it is a difficult decision to make. I'm glad to hear that this site has been helpful to you, it has been to me also. One additional procedure my doc did to me was to do a genioplasty (cutting the tip of the chin) he pulled it forward with the tongue muscle attached to it. This helped to open up the airway also. Any other questions, just ask. And I don't mind if you want to email me directly (russ84brit86@...) a > a, > > I have been doing my homework and the information on > this site has helped tremendously.
