Guest guest
Hi y'all! I'm now 5 days post-op from surgery to remove the distractors (my lovely jewelry). The surgeon removed the distractors, molded the new bone into position and put on bone plates to hold everything in place. He also took fat from my belly (my baby pooch) and placed it into the joints and around the muscles. The fat cells lubricate everything and will take several months to be reabsorbed. In the meantime, everything else will heal and there should be minimal scar tissue. I tend to scar a lot which restricted my opening. Before this surgery I was only able to open 10 mm. Now my opening has instantly gone to 27 mm! Today I had my first post-op appointment and it went very well. I have finally been cleared to eat so for the first time in over 19 months I was able to eat solid food without having to put it through the blender first. I ate part of a sub sandwich and for the first time in my life I was able to bite off pieces of the sandwich. Because of my huge overbite pre-op I always had to cut everything up into small pieces. I was so excited! I still have some orthodontic work to be done but after 7 years the end is finally in sight. I have relatively little pain at this point which I can control with over the counter meds. The only problem I still have is nausea which I have had after every surgery. That and I still feel very weak. I was exhausted after going to my appointment today and took a nice long nap on the sofa. That's normal for me after any anesthesia so that will go away in a few days too. Right now I'm so happy about my results. No more surgery for me! I'm retiring :-) I hope that the rest of you (especially post-oppers) are faring as well.

Guest guest
, WOW !!! Congratulations. I guess we don't know what we can endure until we are put to the test, you proved that. 19 months of blended food, I'm never going to complain about my 5 weeks again! Hope things continue to go well and that the entire procedure is a complete sucess. a > Hi y'all! > > I'm now 5 days post-op from surgery to remove the distractors (my > lovely jewelry).
