Guest guest
Hi, Several members of this group and many readers of the Support Report have asked me to look into the vagan diet. Since there have been claims made that it is suppose to " cure " RP. After contacting all parties site on that web page this is what I have found out. Ms. has not returned either of my e-mails. Dr. McDougal has not kept records of those with RP that tried his diet. AND to contact to see if she has kept any records. He however, did send a note that was posted by someone without a last name, saying that she quite taking all her medications for RA and was following his diet and felt wonderful, but she had not yet reached the 12 day of the program. Below is the letter I sent to Dr. Bluestone and his response. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Please note that there are several key things in the vegan diet that are really good. And everyone should form there own opinion. But as for verifying whether this diet is going to cure your RP. I'm sorry I wish it where that simple. I can not verify it. Key factors to any diet is lower fat intake. Eating the correct portion sizes. Include 7 oz. of protein daily in your diet. Eat at least 4-7 helpings of fruits and veggies a day. Eat a wide verity of fruits and veggies from all the different categories. Include at least one serving of fatty (tuna, mackerel or salmon) fish per week into your diets. The fresher your fruits and veggie's the better. Decrease your simple sugar count. Count calories and carbos. If you are looking into changing your diet I highly recommend the diet supported by the American Diabetes Assoc. or the American Heart Association. They do have long, prove test results, trails and evidence that their diets work and are beneficial. ALWAYS CHECK WITH YOUR SPECIALISTS BEFORE STARTING ANY DIET OR EXERCISE PROGRAMS! --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Guest guest
Don't we wish it was that simple. The diet is very simplified, common sense stuff. Everyone should be eating healthy but to say it " cures " rp is ludicrius...Sue

But some journals do say some people have a light case with only one flare. That couldn't have been her reason for the cure. It was going to happen anyway. They are strictly trying to sell you something. Okay, I'll shut up....... love Lu
