Guest guest
I had lower jaw surgery on Monday. The first few days went amazingly smooth. The last two have been a bit rough. My question is about my still very sore throat and the constant " gunk " that seems to be draining down it. It feels like there is a rock in my chest or a giant pill stuck in my throat. It is worst at night (probably from not drinking for a few hours.) Also, I've managed to cover the pain by being on the meds constantly, but I watch the clock the last 45 minutes before my next dose and can feel a freight train chasing me if I don't take it exactly every 4 hours. How long will I feel so dependent on the drugs? Good news is, my four year old said " Mama, your face looks flatter today! " . Thanks for your support. Guest guest
I'm on Day 12 and am just starting to lose the " gunk. " It got worse about Day 5 and the constant decongestants kept me from sleeping for about a week. The stuff did eventually thin out though, and now I just have nasal congestion left. Check with your doctor and see if he'll let you take an expectorant cough syrup--my decongestant had an expectorant in it, and it really helps thin that stuff out. The other thing I noticed was that it got worse when I didn't drink a lot of juice and water. I think the more fluid you have in your system, the thinner the drainage is. The congestion and drainage was the most uncomfortable part of my recovery so far, but I promise it will get better next week. Good luck! --Amy > I had lower jaw surgery on Monday.
