Guest guest
im 17 years old, and all of my life my doctors and dentists have told me that i need to have this surgery. while i was younger my mom always said no because it didnt hurt me. but now it is hurting a lot, and i am considering having this procedure done. can someone please tell me what the healing process is like, and if it is worth all of the pain of healing after surgery? The only thing i really dont like about it is being wired shut. not being able to talk to anyone or eat for 2 weeks really sucks! but im sure its worth it. if theres anything else you want to know ask. good luck.. kirsten
Guest guest
Okay first it has to be worth it for you, you are old enough go sit down with your questions and have a talk with your surgeon. The pain after is mild and I actually could feel that my tmj issues were gone right after surgery. and you are young so you will heal oh yeah and mom is paying for it, trust me when you are 25 you'll want to go to Mexico not pay for braces again Shiloh > im 17 years old, and all of my life my doctors and dentists have > told me that i need to have this surgery. while i was younger my mom > always said no because it didnt hurt me. but now it is hurting a > lot, and i am considering having this procedure done. can someone > please tell me what the healing process is like, and if it is worth > all of the pain of healing after surgery? Guest guest
Hi, I'm 34 years old and just had the surgery 6 weeks ago. I lived with my jaw problems from my early teens, and back then they wouldn't do the surgery until you had stopped growing, so I was put off until I was in my 20's. I met my ex-husband at 20, married and had our first child by 22. At that point, it was not " convenient " to have the surgery because of my son and the fact that my ex was in school and we didn't have great insurance. Before I knew it, 3 years had passed and I was pregnant with our second child. So, back in the same prediciment, but with great insurance this time around. Unfortunately we suffered through some major family traumas (severe illnesses, deaths in the family) and our marriage fell apart due to that and many other reasons. I've been divorced just over 3 years now and I made a vow to start taking care of me after we split up. To make a long story short, life kept throwing curve balls at me and I had to wait until I was in my mid 30's to do something that has brought me such great relief. If you can do it now and you want to do it, by all means... Get it over with! You are young and will heal much faster and easier than us old farts. I spent sooo many years hiding from cameras and feeling self conscience because I felt like I looked like a bull dog or something. Recovery was hard, I won't lie to you, but it is totally worth it!
