I think I'm grossing out the most about the feeding or draining tube that will be there when I wake up. Is it gross? Exactly how many tubes will I have in me when I wake? Eeek.

Jenn

I had no tubes in me when I cane out of surgery., maybe you wont either.

- what you are feeling is perfectly normal pre-surgery

jitters. I also had anxiety dreams, the classic one where I find

myself showing up to work with only my slip on, no skirt! Your dreams

are just a reaction to the normal anxiousness that anyone would feel

before surgery!

The two tubes were no big deal for me, just a little hassle, rather

than gross. Just try to remember that they are in there to help you.

Plus, the drain tube usually is removed before you go home.

Try to relax - you will do fine, and soon you will feel so much

better!!

Jenn: I didn't have any tubes other than two drainage tubes on my right

side. Some people do not have any drainage tubes. It is not common for many

surgeons (although I'm not sure about all of them) to have an NG tube with

laparoscopic surgery. They do have a breathing tube in during the surgery

and some people wake up in recovery with that tube still in place. I woke up

in the or (after the surgery) as we were waiting for a bed in recovery. I

didn't have any breathing tubes or other tubes attached to my face at all.

The drain tubes are not a big deal... it is good to have them if your surgeon

feels it's necessary. I had two placed in the same location. Others have

had two (one one each side), whereas some have had only one tube and some

haven't had any! :):)

all the best,
