Post-WLS Leukemia

Anyone been down this particular path? I'm doing basic research at this point...

my blood work and I have completely crashed, my supplement regime, except for

perhaps iron and B-12 is fantastic. Today we addressed the iron and B-12 (Rx

iron, Chromagen Forte, and B-12 shots), and my awesome PCP is pulling his hair

out... and wants to test me for leukemia. It's certainly not a done deal, but as

you can imagine, I'm worried as all get-out. No family history of this cancer,

but no good reason to suspect my RNY is the cause of the problem I'm having

either (I've been checked for GI problems and bleeding, none at all). I've also

got a very recent perfect mammogram, so breast cancer is thankfully off the list

of possibilities.

I'm 35, I've never smoked, I don't drink and hardly ever did, I don't do drugs,

blood pressure's fine, heart is fine, blood work results were basically

acceptable all the way through September except for low ferritin and B-12

levels... and I've never been healthier in my life until I recently started

passing out and falling to the floor. (But as I joked with a WLS friend, at

least with all the calcium citrate I've been taking, my bones are nice and

strong and I won't break anything when I do fall down), and I'm light enough to

be carried somewhere without dying of embarrassment or giving the people who

help me hernias. LOL

Ideas? Wild speculations? Hand-holding? All are welcome. White light, positive

thoughts, etc., are also welcome, in an atheist sort of way. ;-)

My father had the same thing. His Dr., too, suspected leukemia.

Turns out it was pernicious anemia.
