Guest guest
I just wrote yesterday screaming yeah! I made it through the first year. Without a doubt, I believe exercise helped me to loose 141 pounds to date. When I first had my proximal RNY I was just walking on my treadmill at home until a very good friend, who is an exercise physiologist, encouraged me to add weights to my program. She said it would help me build that all important muscle that BURNS CALORIES!!!!!! I joined a gym and hired a personal trainer two days a week. It was brutal at first, but every week got a little easier. I just had my 3rd fitness evaluation since beginning personal training in April and was told I'm fit for my age, height and weight! ---I could barely walk across a room when I started.---Truthfully, I'm still considered obese according to my BMI--I weigh 174 lbs. and am 5' 4 " , but my trainer continues to tell me not to look at those numbers. So, my schedule is as follows: Monday I work out with a buddy on the circuit machines and walk/jog 2-3 miles, Tuesday & Thursday a kickboxing class, Wed & Fri personal training and walk/jog 2-3 miles---Sometimes I walk/job on Saturdays and Sundays too--but only if I'm really motivated. Today I did nothing! It was snowing so hard in So. MD-- I looked outside and decided I didn't want to make the 3 mile trek to the gym at 5:45 a.m. ---All day I kept telling my snowed in family, I really need to put my workout clothes on and exercise---It is now 7:57 p.m. and I'm still in my bathrobe---The first time that I have stayed in my robe since my surgery one year ago today----So goes without saying, not everyday is a successful exercise day--BUT I will get back on track tomorrow!
