Guest guest
Hello : Yesterday, when I read my post about toilet problems to Bill, he informed me that he was been passing blood in his urine. Says it's been going on for two days. He said he didn't want to worry me because I have an mtg. with the IRS regarding medical deductions. I've tried to reach his dr. but he won't be in until tomorrow. Hopefully, he'll call today. I don't know if I should take him to emergency. He has no pain and no fever. This is the first time he has blood in his urine. Aida and Bill in NYC __________________________________________________
Guest guest
Aida, Blood in the urine is a sign of infection or something bad, I would not hesitate to call 911 and get him to the ER. What is IRS questioning? Guest guest
Aida, As a stop gap measure you could get some UTI test strips at the local pharmacy. If positive, run don't walk to the ER. If negative, wait for the doc to call. Guest guest
Hello Aida: Does he have any other urination problems? It could be an infection. Let me know. As a prostate cancer patient I have seen it all or at least nearly so. Guest guest
Bill, I agree with your assessment but thought I would Add that fresh red blood might also mean the person has a kidney or bladder stone working its way down either the ureters or urethra. It should be checked out ASAP. Guest guest
Jim, Yes, I added " or other problem " to cover that and other problems. In any case it needs to be checked out as it could be a problem unrelated to MSA. Hope it's not a kidney stone as I know that feeling all too well - Ouch!
