Guest guest
, If I read you correctly, you aren't going to work out before surgery. I respectfully disagree. My experience has been that working out for weeks before surgery greatly reduces my recovery time. Not only do the muscles respond better, but is it possible that being aerobically fit and having a heart that effectively oxenegates blood speeds up getting rid of that horrible anestheisia " hangover " ? Working out also, even after just a week or so, significantly reduces blood pressure and water retention. Not to mention the general feeling of wellness from endorphins and increased energy level. Personally, I think it would be worth it. I endure my exercise aches with pride, like a badge of courage. It's nothing compared to how my feet and back felt each morning when I tried to get out of bed. In the end, it's whatever works best for you. Guest guest
Well, if I can ever get rid of this sinus infection and headache (a month now.) I am going to start doing the aerobics at least!! I am not going to start the " weights " though.........when I start lifting I am in horrible pain for at least two weeks.......I can't even bowl on Tuesday nights...I have to call off!! Even if I try to start out wicked slow it is murder. IF I do have surgery and it is a few months away then I would probably start......but there is no way I would be able to Christmas shop or anything if I did it now. But I do agree with you 100%.....I LOVE to work out and have had a hard time with depression because of all this illness and not being able to!!!!!! Thanks, Exercise > > > > > > > One topic that is not discussed much is exercise. > > > Does anyone want to share what their exercise programs > > > consist of and whether you feel this contributes to > > > keeping lost weight off. > > > > > > When I've read about weight " bounce back " , the first > > > question that comes to my mind is " Are you > > > exercising " ? > > > > > > I am two years post-op from a distal RNY and have lost > > > 140 lbs. Guest guest
I tried an aerobics class last week for the first time. Lasted about 4 minutes and gave up. I'm a weenie. Too much jumping around for me. :-} Vicki A. > > > Hi Gayle.......I too always wonder if people exercise or not, and > > what do > > > they do.
