Hey everyone, how are you? I'm pretty good, I had my supposed last

appointment with my surgeon on Tuesday the 13th. He was supposed to

show me the software and do the surgery on me on the computer and

show me what i will look like(to a certain degree). Sadly, the

software was down and he will show me the day before surgery in

Lansing. For those that have had the upper jaw, especially the

Leforte I, did your looks change much? If they did, how much did

they move your jaw and did your looks improve?? I am not sure what

mine will look like, as they are only moving mine 3mm. Thanks!

Hi tori,

Most everyone who has upper jaw surgery has a Leforte 1, there are

other Leforte procedures but they involve much more of the facial

structure.

3 mm is not a large movement, so I would guess there will not be

dramatic change. People may think that you got a new haircut or

something like that, they may notice something, but likely won't be

able to really tell what's different unless you tell them.

I had some pretty dramatic, and unexpected change, I had upper/lower

and genio for an overbite/overjet. But I'm still me inside, just more

balanced structurally.

I'm three weeks post-op from upper only. He moved my molars I think

he said 6 mm closer to my eyeballs, and he tacked my upper lip down

to my gums. I definitely have more cheek bone now, and my lips have

a much nicer curl to them. My family says that I have more cheeks

by my nose, but I say it's swelling. They say I don't look swollen

anymore. We'll see who's right.

Really, though, the changes are subtle. I see them because I'm

searching for them. Casual friends say they can't tell I had

surgery just a short time ago. In fact, one woman I ran into at the

mall stared at me suspiciously. " WHEN did you have your surgery? "

She knew from e-mails that I had already had it, but looking at me,

she thought it wasn't done yet. That was at the 2.5 week point.

Best comment so far. " Wow, you look good. You really look good.

You can't even tell. " You can't tell I look good?
