I am going to say it is truly easier said than done, but when I have protein shakes, I don't have any thoughts of food. I am serious as a heart attack. I work in the mall next to Mrs. Fields and Starbucks..... (selling diamonds, much fewer calories ), but sometimes it can be a temptation. I don't dump, never have, and probably never will. I also am a really bad example at exercise. I also have to stay away from the scales completely. That is for another day. I have been feeling kind of big lately and my clothes are not as comfortable and at the same time, all that seems to be on my mind is chocolate and caffeine. So...... I had two protein shakes before work this morning and one during the day. On the drive home tonight I noticed that I didn't think about cookies or any other unnecessary evil at all. I know it works. It has never failed to work. Just have a shake when you are in the mood for something else. If you still have the " craving " then have some and don't put your self on a diet. It won't help. Never did before right? It won't start now. Make the shakes your priority. I will swear by it and most here do to.

Guest guest
Dr. Atkin's always swore by this too...........he said that if you are having a horrible craving hurry up and have " protein " and have a lot of it.......he claims that protein is self-limiting........whereas you could go on endlessly with carbs most people cannot " binge " on protein.......and it removes the desire to binge on carbs!!!!!! Guest guest
As I read through my digest, sometimes I opt not to read certain posts because content is not meaningful for me. But what the heck subject does Digest Number whatever tell me NADA! If you are replying to a Digest, please retype subject. Thanks. At least the whole digest isn't trailing along. P. ----------------------------------------- Well, Dr. A never spent a day in MY shoes, or apparently never knew anyone like me either. I CAN quite easily over-eat on protein; I do NOT find it self-limiting in the least. I can put away a HUGE rare steak and lick my chops lookin' for more. AND after I have my hi-protein meal, I ALWAYS have a craving for something sweet (carbs). The only self-limiting in my case IS myself. I gotta set the limits all the time. No kind of food, and certainly not the pouch do it for me. I wonder why every single day. Carol A >>

When I eat a salad for a meal (raw veggies, shredded cheese, diced meat, oil, vinegar & spices, a few croutons sometimes), I always crave a piece of candy or a cookie afterwards. This doesn't happen when I have a meal that's higher in carbs though, so I'm wondering if it isn't my body telling me that it needs some carbs. I don't crave crackers or chips though, but sweets. ------------------------------------------------ Terry Mayers 5DollarHosting.comR http://www.5dollarhosting.com (877)-838-HOST / .... because it shouldn't cost a fortune to make a fortune! I always have a sugar free cookie (or two) or a sugar free peanut butter cup (or three) about an hour and a half after all my meals, just before I start drinking fluids again.
