Just wanted you to know, I took Fred into the MD today to get a recheck on the pneumonia. It was the Pulmonary Doctor that had the chest xrays done when we told him that Fred was weak and wasn't breathing well. The doctor hadn't heard it, said the lungs sounds were fine, but said that he'd do the chest x rays and that is what found the pneumonia. I was asked to call back in a week to have his nurse fax/s over another form for another x ray. I did call, but the nurse was on vacation . So I told the replacing nurse what I needed and also asked her if she would fax's over the report to Fred's MD so that he would have it in his records. She told me she would. This was all early yesterday morning . Called late yesterday afternoon to make sure that the place I was to go get the xray had the authorization that was suppose to fax there already. No! they didn't have it, so I called the pulmonary doctor and talked to the nurse again. She told me at my insurance had to authoriz it, and it could be a few days ( we know how that goes) so this morning I called the md's office and got him an appointment knowning with the MD I don't need a authorization to get in. When we got to the MD office his nurse said she didn't get a fax of the report that I had requested the day before, so she had to call and ask again for one to be sent. By the time we left they still didn't have it. I did get the doctor to check Fred and he said that the lung sounds good ( didn't we hear that before?) So by the time I left , I walked out with the authorization in hand to have a chest x ray done tomorrow and a recheck again on Friday. I'd rather be safe then sorry . Only way I could think of getting something done without having to wait and wait till the insuance said ok. Just had to out think the insurance.

Sure is a fight to get something done.

Vera,

It's a shame that you have to fight with against the insurance company every time something happens. One of the insurance co's around here has been advertising that they have case managers for complicated cases. You might call your insurance co in non-crisis mode, explain Fred's illness, fax them background information and see if there is ONE person who can be your contact point for everything. If you can make a "friend" within the insurance co you might have smoother sailing.

Just a thought. As my mother always told me, you catch more flies with honey that you do with vinegar.
