Has anybody read the book: Children with Starving Brains: A Medical

Treatment Guide for Autism Spectrum Disorder

Author: Jacquelyn McCandless

I found some information on the DAN website about this book and it

sounded very interesting. Please let me know. Thanks. Deborah

Yes, I have read the book and have used the DAN! protocol to treat my daughter,

dx Moderate Verbal Apraxia, PDD-NOS, Sensory Integration Disorder. You may email

me off line if you would like more info.

Deborah,

It is a very good book. Especially helpful if you want to do some of

the DAN! protocol testing with a non-DAN! doctor.

Would you be willing to give just a quick nutshell of what this book is saying?

I just plain can't read it at this time but am very interested in the findings.

Thank you, Suzanne

Ditto, this book is the best source of information for treating

developmental delay.

It is packed with information, but basically Dr. McCandless has years

of experience treating the medical problems of children with autism.

The book discusses common nutritional deficiencies, food

sensitivities, viral issues, immune system problems, leaky gut,

problems in the methionine and folate cycles (metabolism), and so

forth, and also describes ways to address these problems.
