Bill,

I'm sorry that it has taken so long to get back to you. Sit down, put

anything liquid or sharp away and make sure you have gone to the bathroom

before reading any further.

Grab your sides to prevent muscle strain, allow enough room for the head

to swell! Ready? OK! Here it goes!

Yesterday a dealer for the Pride Jazzy came out to our home and brought a

Jazzy 1100 Power chair. While it was beautiful to look at, comfortable to

sit in and could maneuver the doorways in my home, it had 3 major flaws....

that without your comments and those of others who wrote on the subject, I

would not have noticed.....

The flaws were:

1. Too much pressure on my legs because it came without leg rests...just had

a plate to put your feet on. Within 10 minutes, my thighs were hurting and

my feet had turned purple from lack of circulation in the legs. Hummmm...

2. Headrest was stupid. In order to put your head back, you had to contort

your back in such a way that not only do you look spastic but the comfort

level was horrible. The headrest was a joke. It was there for looks only

and in no way was functional for someone....me.... who cannot hold their own

head up for more than an hour (on a good day) without support. No go on

this one.

3. No detachable remote. would actually have to sit in my lap to

control the chair should I become unable to do so.... not a pretty picture.

..... Not only was the chair one that would not " grow " with my needs... it

doesn't even fit the needs that I currently have.

Moral of the story: TODAY.... yes, today.... I went and looked at the

Sunrise Chairs that you recommended in the first place and viola.... one

that meets all of the above features and needs is standard on the Sunrise

Smart Seat 626. We will make some calls today.

I hate to admit being " stubborn " but ..... Bill... uhhh.... You were

right!.... Had I listened...or even checked out what you suggested in the

first place... I might have my chair today instead of making calls

for more people to come to our home and demonstrate more wheelchairs.

I printed out all of the details..... and boy are there a lot of them... and

found the dealers in our area... so here we go again...

Belated thanks to you! (as she crosses her legs and crosses her arms behind

her back, lowers her head and looks up sheepishly from the corner of her

eyes) Thank you Bill!

Deborah,

For a power wheelchair look at the Sunrise / Quickie P-222 as it offers

more comfort AND has a rating of 5 of 5. I could not find the Jazzy 1122 but

the 1120 got a rating of 4.04 of 5

Take care, Bill Werre

Deborah,

I would still look at the Sunrise P-222 as it has a much better rating than the

Sunrise 626. Also the P-222 is Medicare approved and I don't think the 626 is

Medicare approved. Finally the P-222 is $1200 cheaper than the 626. So all in

all a much better buy.

Take care, Bill Werre

Thanks Bill,

We will be looking at both of them on July 1. The guy is getting them

delivered to the showroom so that we can see both of them. I don't have

Medicare but private insurance and have already met my deducible and then

some for the year. We will have no co-pay to cover. We also have a

personal insurance case manager who got the more expensive chair with any

bell and whistle we need pre-approved...that is everything except ramps...

they are not covered at all. So on July 1, we will go and give them a test

run and see what is most comfortable and functional for me.

Thanks for the input... your suggestions will no longer go unheeded.

Hugs,

Deborah
