I was impressed with his demeanor over the phone and also surprised that he sounded like a very young man. Hurray for youth!!!! Probably missed this, but how did he become involved in the study of this disorder? How was his interest peaked? What is his background? Whatever led him in this direction, thank God!!! His background is in Parkinson's, and he became interested in MSA when he had a few patients who were very active and inspired him to become more interested in MSA and in conducting the same type of study for MSA that was being done for PD. The moral of the story? Keep poking and prodding those docs. They are the ones who will solve this riddle for us in the long run. Guest guest Posted June 26, 2002 Report Share Posted June 26, 2002 Barbara, Praying will not get the bucks, but remember that the AIDS people are getting $1.1 Billion next year with Presidential and probably both Senators Warner and 's approval. Since is AGAINST any stem cell research, and FOR families, he should support money for research which can cure this disease. I am sure he is tired of hearing from me, so another letter from me would be filed in the circular file. Letters from you and your friends asking for research outside of stem cell research could help. Warner on the other hand has been contacted by influencial Republicans and may change his mind and even support the Anti-cloning Bill which allows stem cell research with very tight controls. So letters to him could help. Note that recent papers have shown stem cell helped monkeys develope insulin producing cells in higher order primates. This is great news for people with juvenile diabetes and welcome news for other disorders.
