Guest guest
In 1989 I was put in touch with the RP Support Group here in the UK (started by Clifford Ashworth in 1987)by my consultant. There were a few members from the USA (found through NORD) and at that time no other support group in existance over there that we were aware of. The American membership grew and Shirley Colbath volunteered to run it from the US and she started the Support Report (the name was her mother's suggestion) Faye Benkin took over when Shirley was too ill and then . It was through the Support Report and that I found out about the foundation. When Clifford died the group in the UK was taken over by Finnett. Following 's death I 'inherited' it. Finding the group in the UK in the first place was such a help to me and now the support available on the internet is wonderful, especially for members recently diagnosed. I believe we can beat this, and I guess I will keep on believing until they carry me out kicking and screaming. I'm really glad the support is there whenever we need it. I know it's kept me sane (or reasonably sane) Thank God, we can finally get accurate information out there and that we have each other to lean on!
