Guest guest
One of the points most folks don't understand is that many of the obese people did not eat what you eat postop Randy when we were preop. If we tried to eat like others, we would soon be obese again. The difference with what I eat and the other person eats is That I eat real food, not drinks. I use real dressings, eat small amounts of fried food. I don't eat sweets because they were never my problem. Fay Bayuk

Guest guest
Okay, now look at this and then see my response below, and help me understand. ______________________________________________ On Friday I had, Breakfast: Protein shake, coffee Mid AM snack: protein shake Lunch 3/4 Subway salad with turkey, dressing was vinegar and mustard. How in the hell do any of you live, and function on so little food? I would die. I did not have this surgery to punish myself and this eating seems to be punishment. Guest guest
It's funny - I have no trouble getting in 3 - 4 shakes a day (after my recent hospitalization (no shakes in sight - only IV - I am on a rampage to stay healthy) and food. For example yesterday 7am shake 9:30am 1/2 a protein bar 1:00pm 1/2 piece Alvarado Toast w/ tuna and creamcheese) 4pm shake 7pm turkey out of a slice of hoagie and few horduerves sp? and a bit of potato salad 11pm shake And that was a busy day where I was running a craft show booth in the morning and baking for a party all afternoon, squeezed in a nap, went to the party... All I can tell you is that when the checked me into the hospital and saw my protein numbers my primary was thrilled they were like 8.2 (up from 6.1) Marjie
Guest guest
I gotta agree with you Randy.........IF I ever got my protein shakes in I wouldn't get any food with it!!! This is my biggest stumbling block.....I want REAL food! When I make an effort to get protein shakes in I spend my whole day revolved around food......depresses me to no end!! I keep saying the same thing to myself.....I didn't have this surgery to live on shakes the rest of my life.......I could have done that with Optifast (and tried it twice!) I'm seriously discouraged!!!!!!! P. I am 5' 3 " tall and weigh between 215 and 220. I lose 1 to 2 pounds per month at 15 months out. I have lost a total of 40 pounds in the last 12 months and have a long way to go. I'm just trying to get by the best I can, to be healthy and get this damn weight OFF. This is the hand I'm dealt and I really really really try not to whine about it. But it is hard to listen to people who can and do eat whatever they want and stay at an ideal size/weight and they wonder what is " wrong " that the rest of us can't just get it right. Yes it feels like punishment sometimes, but I imagine psoriasis, kidney stones, prostate trouble, drug addicted teenagers, and lots of other things I DON'T have to suffer do as well. Guest guest
I used to think that too. But, because I get satisfied and actually STUFFED on less than a cup of food in most cases, The protein shakes are only for " in between " meals. I never use them as meal replacements. I guess I don't think about it that much. Sometimes I snack more than other times. I guess it just goes with years of experience. My hubby and I rarely go out to dinner, maybe twice a YEAR, if that, and I know my eyes are bigger than my stomach. I usually will choose salmon or something like that that I can eat slowly and it seems to mush up and go through faster. I am such a " cheap date " . I put more food on my plate than I can eat at home, and never or RARELY will eat the entire amount. My 12 and 16 year olds eat more.. and in fact, I usually will just use a salad plate for my food, and still hardly ever eat it. It seems that so many of us are still obsessed with food, and yeah, I still totally LOVE food, but my " tool " does not allow me to have much of it, and so I eat every couple of hours, maybe three hours. I still have to set a timer at work - got so I was getting so busy I wasn't eating again or drinking. Now I set a timer for every hour and It's on my desk and goes off to tell me to get up and make a shake or have some food or water. Depends on which hour it was. It works for me. You will get there eventually. B
