Guest guest
Hi, I am from Malaysia, mother of a 5 yr old son with verbal dyspraxia. After reading the recommendation by Cherub, I want to put him on Omega 3 & 6 supplements. But the only one available in Malaysia is Efalex capsule. If I pierce the capsule & mix it with very warm milk, will it spoil the nutriotional value? He wont take it any other way. Fyi, in Malaysia, verbal dyspraxia is hardly known and there are hardly any SLPs or doctors who specialise in this area. Thank you for your advise. Guest guest
There are others with more experience with Efalex than me since I always used nordic naturals...however I have heard the efalex also helps. You may want to consider also adding 400 IU vitamin E (alpha-d- tocophorol). - > Hi, I am from Malaysia, mother of a 5 yr old son with verbal > dyspraxia. Guest guest
Hi I would not be inclined to mix Efalex in very warm milk. I think the heat would devalue the nutritional contents. Try getting him to swallow it whole. Or try squeezing the contents into a spoon or mixing it with a cold drink or at room temperature. Guest guest
When I was asking the eye q representative about how ways to get the child to take the fish oil, she recommended mixing the oil into food or drinks, for instance smoothies, milk-based drinks, oatmeal, or fruit salad. Some like to use applesauce or yogurt. She also said not to heat the oil, as it will destroy the delicate structure of the fatty acids. Whether mixing the oil into warm milk would be considered heating the oil, I don't know.
