Hi Glenda and everyone

Sorry I haven't been around much, but I certainly haven't forgotten you

all... it was about a year ago this time of year when my RP made it's

re-appearance.

I'm doing much better though, I had stopped taking the pred in early Feb and

have not had a relapse since. However, I have some wheezing which my GP has

diagnosed it as mild asthma or bronchial spasm, but I breathe ok most of the

time and there is no pain, just occasional coughing to try to clear the

congestion a bit. I hear a squeaky/whistling kind of noise on long exhales

and especially when I lie down; and sometimes a slight heaviness on the

chest. My GP prescribed Flovent, which I'm too chicken to try as she said

it can cause thrush... But I'll use it soon just to rid myself of these

symptoms.

I'm presently on 2 weeks vacation and trying to relax, but it's unusually

cold outside for this time of year. As long as I'm home and relaxing and in

good health

I started my vacation out by going to a U2 concert last Monday... I must be

getting old though, the music and screaming was so loud, I think I damaged

my ear drum... still hear a ringing/buzzing sound on my right ear... I'll

have to remember to wear ear plugs next time... LOL

Take care everybody and remember I love you all very much

hugs

Carmela

Carmela,

I have been on Flovent for a long time and have not gotten Thrush.

You have to gargle and rinse your mouth with water each time you use it.

So glad to hear you have been doing well without the Pred.

Hugs,

Sandy

Hi Carmela, Flovent is very effective to help you breath and clear up that

wheezing, etc. I also found out if you are prone to sinus infections and

bronchitis, which I am, it seems to ward that off. Thrush is very uncommon

but you must do what you feel comfortable with....Have a great day....Sue

Carmela, I'm sure everyone is going to jump in and tell you to see an ENT! I

think that's pretty good advice. maybe you should check into it! In the

meantime, you have the right idea! Relax and rest and take care of yourself!

Good luck, Love, Judy

Carmela, do try the Flovent, it's true it can

encourage thrush, but if you rinse your throat out

after inhalation (just gargle and spit with regular

water) and either eat live yoghurt or take

acidophulous regularly, you wont get it. This does

work for me, I used to get thrush (both orally and

vaginal) all the time, but now I never do, no matter

whether I'm taking pred, antibiotics or I have high

blood sugar. Use the Flovent, your breathing is

important!!! Love Liz
