Guest guest
Hi everyone, synthroid is a brand name. That name is what is being question by the FDA. The actual medication has been apporved for 15-20 years. The manufatures of synthroid has been writen up by the FDA for a statement they made on their mediacl note pads that they leave in the doctors offices stating the it is a " standard " for hormone replacement thryapy. The FDA claims that there is no proven standard nad this is a misleading statement. THe manufactures have to change their advertising. But the medication is approved, if you go to the FDA site, look it up under its chemical name which you can get from www.intelihealth.com under medication search. R. << I was not aware until today that Synthyroid had never been approved by the FDA. I've taken it for 8 years >> Marilyn, I've been on Synthroid for over 25 years, no problems, unless the dr doesn't catch it quickly enough when my levels change. I can't understand it not having FDA approval, I'll ask my dr about it. Thanks for the info. Love, Judy
