Guest guest
Hi everyone. Okay I am supposed to have my third surgery in October/November. I started a new job today -whooo - after a 3 year maternity leave. However I was wondering since its a new employer and I am prepared to push the surgery back as not to look unprofessional, hi oh and by the way I need 2 months off in October Okay so my questions are two fold - how long should I wait before bringing up the fact that I need to have surgery that can be reschedualled? Its a government union job so there's little chance they will can me.......But I don't want anyone to have bad feelings etc. So how long do you think I'd need to take off from having uppers and genio? Whats the range? I am a PA so its alot of computer time not talking....But I don't want to go back before I am 80%. Shiloh
Guest guest
I'm having my upper on May 11. I'm only taking 3 weeks off at the max. My doctor says that is more than enough. > Hi everyone. > Okay I am supposed to have my third surgery in October/November. > I started a new job today -whooo - after a 3 year maternity leave. > > However I was wondering since its a new employer and I am prepared > to push the surgery back as not to look unprofessional, hi oh and by > the way I need 2 months off in October > > Okay so my questions are two fold - how long should I wait before > bringing up the fact that I need to have surgery that can be > reschedualled? Guest guest
shiloh, i was interviewing for a promotion at my company a few weeks before my surgery was going to be scheduled. i told my potential employers in the job interview that i would be needing a week off from surgery coming up soon. so they knew when they hired me that this was going to be coming up. i think its probably best to let your employer know as soon as possible. if you feel certain they won't penalize you (it IS surgery after all, not a carribbean vacation) then its okay to be straight up about it from the beginning. i only took a week off from work... that was what my surgeon suggested and before the surgery. i was worried i'd need more time but when the time came, he was right. i was ready to return in a week. however, everyone's different. so far my surgeon has been right about everything, so i would ask your guy how much time you'll need off. but definitely, as far as the job is concerned, let them know asap. they'll appreciate it and it will probably take a load off of you to have it settled. good luck! heather > Hi everyone. Guest guest
I had my upper jaw done right after maternity leave, which was right after 1 month jury duty, which was right after I started my new job. Could it have BEEN worse? It turned out fine. I gave them 1 years notice (when I got the braces on), I thought ahead as to what would be on our project schedule and had a plan as to who would cover. I took 2 weeks off, one vacation, and the other I worked from home via a laptop. I was able to participate in all meetings though I didn't say much and when I did, they just commiserated with me and told me to hush. I was in good shape to go back after two weeks. But the KEY thing I told my employer to get them to give me the time off was: I think I'm going to be a distraction, but I can come in that second week if you really want me to. (Believe me, they WON'T want to see you!) ;-) Connie > > > > Hi everyone. > > Okay I am supposed to have my third surgery in October/November. > > I started a new job today -whooo - after a 3 year maternity leave. > > > > However I was wondering since its a new employer and I am prepared > > to push the surgery back as not to look unprofessional, hi oh and > by > > the way I need 2 months off in October > > > > Okay so my questions are two fold - how long should I wait before > > bringing up the fact that I need to have surgery that can be > > reschedualled? I gave them 1 years notice (when I got the braces on), I thought ahead as to what would be on our project schedule and had a plan as to who would cover. The vacation is a good idea it shows I am willing to give of my own time.... Shiloh
