Guest guest
We are doing it through teleconference on TV with South TExas Community College. We have had two classes so far, one on children growing up on the move and the second on Mental health and the family. Contact the Milagros office for more information. One of our first activities was to form a community coalition of approximately 12 Hispanic community members and 8 ETSU ‘researchers’ who meet about twice a month. We think that several of our community members would be interested in either observing a successful community promotora program, or participating in some promotora training that they could use in their community for now and for the future. We have researched and found some programs in the more obvious states, but are curious to know if there is anything local, to which we could feasibly drive. ? Is anyone aware of any programs around Tennessee/North Carolina/Georgia/Virginia, etc. that employ and/or train Hispanic lay health promoters to work in the local Hispanic communities? If so, we would really appreciate contact information. Please feel free to respond to this email or give me a call if you have any suggestions. We’d also be happy to share information about our project, if anyone is interested. Thank you! Hope this works.
