Guest guest
hi! I got my braces off a week ago - and I am SOOOO excited to show off my new face... but I have an issue. Besides the expected numbness left over - the bottom teeth on one side of my mouth feel loose and sore. I'm not sure if it's from the last round of bands before the braces came off or what. I am eating what I want again and I love my new look - but I am concerned about the continued soreness.. Anyone else have this problem? I am 2 1/2 months post-op from upper/lower/genio. Guest guest
I'm no pro... But methinks you can expect teeth to be settling in for some time yet to come. Hey -- they've had a lot of major motion. Your bones and teeth need time, as do the tissues around them, to get themselves accustomed to their new positions. Wear whatever retainers you have (if they're the kind that take your compliance. If not, you have no choice!) and be grateful for what you have, and I think things will take care of themselves, so long as you keep everything clean and functioning. Guest guest
WOW! Braces off at 2 1/2 months... that sounds awful early to me. Trust your ortho I guess, but I only had upper and my ortho was afraid to jump back into things at 2.5 months even though he was given permission by my surgeon at 3 weeks. I don't even think I was allowed to chew anything yet at 2.5 months! I am 8 months post-op and have been in " holding " (as my ortho calls it) since Thanksgiving. I have at least two months left " to be on the safe side. " Congrats to you! I live three hours from my ortho so I wish I was done!
