Guest guest
I'm am getting so discouraged that I could just cry. I've done all my research trying to find an OS that is board certified. I found several OS's but none of them accept my insurance (although they are listed as providers) Finally I asked why they don't deal with *** and they said that they won't authorize orthognathic surgery. What am I going to do??? I really need this surgery and will not go to just any OS. I want a great doctor who is board certified and has done many of these surgeries. Has anyone else had this problem finding a doctor? I can't afford to pay for this surgery out of my own pocket. How much does one of these surgeries cost? According to my ortho I need Upper and Lower. This is driving me crazy. Does anyone have any advice? Please help.... Thanks kygurl72
Guest guest
Ho-kay... Now YOU take a deep breath. Your insurance company should provide a list of participating providers. Get that, first out. Look at who's anywhere near you, and start asking friends whether they have any experience with these docs. Has he taken out their wizzies? Or their children's? Take the list to your ortho, and ask whether he knows anything about any of the listed surgeons who are possibilities. I don't know that board certification is necessarily the end-all and be-all of who's good and who's not. Better indications might be recommendations from friends and, of course, your ortho, as well as asking how many of these procedures he/she has done. As well as asking to speak with previous patients -- ones who've had an easy ride, and ones who've had problems. You're interviewing the docs for a job here. And you're the one they'll be working on. So ask whatever worries you. Best, C. > I'm am getting so discouraged that I could just cry. I've done all > my research trying to find an OS that is board certified.
