Guest guest
The best protein shake is one that you will love. I would suggest subscribing to OSSG-PROTEIN (AT) YAHOOGROUPS (DOT) COM and there are tons of recipes and ideas. I like chocolate - ProV60, HDT-5 +1 or something like that, Pure Whey Stack, ProScore 100, etc. Just chocolate... is there anything else? Drinking shakes DOES help with the cravings. Make sure you have beginnings and ends to meals. I eat 5-7 times a day - 2-4 oz each time, hopefully protein, but sometimes crackers (I'm the cracker queen!). What kind of surgery did you have? How far are you bypassed? How are your labs? How much weight did you regain? Tell more! :-) B Distal RNY 12/27/95 275/
Guest guest
Hi There. I had a gastric bypass in January of 1999. I am not sure how much they bypassed but this April I also had a bowel resection which took away some more of my intestines. I have regained about 10 pounds. I was down to about 159. Then I went up to 169. Now I am down to 165. But I am so hungry all of the time. I don't know how to curb the constant hunger. I don't dump anymore either. I get the " poops " when I have suger, but thats about it. I can eat anything I want. I am so scared of regaining this weight. I have been through too much to go back to where I was. I am only 25. I feel like I am doomed the rest of my life to have problems with my food intake. It is very frustrating. Oh, well. Thats enough rambling! Have a great day! =) >From: 71160@... >To: smileatjamie@..., Graduate-OSSG >Subject: Re: Protien Shakes >Date: Sun, 08 Dec 2002 18:04:07 -0500 > >The best protein shake is one that you will love. Guest guest
Hi ......I know the fear you are talking about!! It is a constant thought in the back of my head!! I wanted to ask you if you exercise?? I honestly do feel that this is (one) of the keys to maintaining our weight loss!! I have been sick for the last month and haven't been able to. I am going to " try " and start back tomorrow.....I say " try " because I just read in article in " Fitness " magazine that said you should never work out if you are on anti-biotics....I can't remember why, I think it was something about stressing internal organs.....I am going to try and find it tonight.......just thought I would pass that little tidbit on......maybe we could try and encourage each other with the daily food and exercise.....I'm ready for it if you are!!!! You may want to contact you gastric bypass surgeon about this problem. Fay Bayuk 300/179 10/23/01 open nry

PHYLLIS The Dr phils arenot much cheaper maybe 1.00 if you find a deal. but have alot more sugar then the atkins shakes... Once again I say If you were willing to put your body through this procedure Why be stingy about spending 2 or 3 more dollars to get your protien in decent tasting shakes.... The ATKINS shakes comes in couple flavors.. There is a dark and light chocolate coffee strawbery and vanilla.... they have 20g protien, 2 carbs and 1 or 2 sugars.I think the Dr phils have over 10 or 12 in sugar... Some people that will cause dumping... I have seen the Atkins as low as 5.99 if you have a walamrt near you they have had them at 7.99 per 4 pack 11 oz cans Every once in while i see they have them on sale at grocery stores or places like walgreens or CVS... Walmart matches prices ... When I find them on sale for 5.99 I usually buy like 6 or 7 packs so i have like 24 to 28 cans. BEST way to drink then is ice cold Sometimes i even throw a can in the freezer for like 30 minutes before i drink it so it gets a shake consistency. That is usually a 2-3 week supply depending what i ate that day will decide if i drink one or 2 cans... There are also ones from slimfast that are ok I think Atkins is better but the new slimfast low carbs have 2 carbs also i think 3 or 4 in sugar and if i am correct because i dont have a can in front of me between 15-20 grams of protien and they run about 5.00 to 6.00 regular price for a 4 pack. Guest guest
I only just noticed the Slim Fast drinks during this last shopping trip!
