Guest guest
Hi all- Just wanted to drop a quick message, after my surgery this past Monday. Everything went great...no complications and my doctor actually finished in a shorter amount of time that he had originally anticipated. Just to recap, on Monday (4/19) I had upper/lower/genio. My doctor finished in just under 4.5 hours, said my bleeding was minimal, and that everything just fit into place. Monday night in the hospital, I was pretty much out of it. Tuesday, the doctor came by and said that everything was looking really great. I was sent off for some x-rays, afterwhich my parents were there when I got back. I was so happy to see them. Tuesday afternoon, the nurse took out the cafeter (yikes), which was actually not too bad, and shortly after, I was going on my own. Then some friends stopped by on Tuesday night. My doctor had stopped by once more on Tuesday to let me know what the everything from the x- rays looked great and that I'd be going home on Wednesday. So, Wednesday morning, my parents came to get me and off we went. I'll be wired for 4 weeks, then 2 weeks with bands. This is definitely strange to get used to, but so far it really hasn't been too bad. I'm still pretty tired and drowsy from anesthesia and pain meds, and my swelling is down so much from Monday night. I did wake up in the middle of the night with that nasty taste/feeling in my mouth, that everything was just getting cooked/fermenting. Not sure if people know what I mean by that, but I just went to the bathroom and used my waterpik to clean everything out. Afterwards I felt much better. My deconjestion is not too bad. I've been breathing through my nose while sleeping, which I attribute to the Sudafed. Also, my stomach is totally on the fritz. Not to sound gross, but I guess my stomach needs to adjust to not injesting solids...no #2's yet, but I sure have a lot of gas. Today I had a chocolate Carnation Instant B'fast blended with some banana, and then some apple juice. My appetite is getting better and I think I'll become more adventuresome as the days progress. Thanks to everyone for all the support thus far, and I'm sure I'll need some more help along the way. I plan to post some pics in the next few days. Thanks again, and any tips would be greatly appreciated. -
