Guest guest
Frequent urge to urinate can also be a symptom of urinary tract infection(UTI). These types of infections are very common to MSA patients because the bladder doesn't empty completely and bacteria build up. If you suspect a UTI get to your doctor or the emergency room as soon as possible for an antibiotic prescription. Regards, Pam Re: Lungs and kidneys As far as symptoms are concerned, yes, unfortunately MSA can certainly cause frequent and urgent need to empty the bladder. The signals from the brain are " confused " and can cause the bladder to contract without warning. There are medications -- ditropan, detrol -- but they do have side effects (lowered blood pressure, dry mouth, confusion, constipation) so must be used with caution. > I've had urinary problems today - for no reason at all that I can > figure out. Guest guest
> Frequent urge to urinate can also be a symptom of urinary tract > infection(UTI). WELL, I USUALLY TEST CLEAR WHEN I HAVE THIS SYMPTOM. HOWEVER, I DO HAVE FREQUENT UNEXPLAINABLE PROSTATE GLAND INFECTIONS. IS THIS COMMON TO MSA TOO? These types of infections are very common to MSA patients because the bladder doesn't empty completely and bacteria build up. If you suspect a UTI get to your doctor or the emergency room as soon as possible for an antibiotic prescription. WELL, I DON'T REALLY SUSPECT UTI. I'M SEEING MY INTERNIST TUESDAY, SO I'LL JUST WAIT TILL THEN. HAVE A LOT OF ISSUES TO DISCUSS WITH HER - AND WILL LIKELY BE ANOTHER OF THOSE HOURS LONG MARATHONS - WHERE SHE SEES ME, THEN SEES ME INBETWEEN SEEING OTHERS. SHE IS GREAT! THANKS PAM... NOW ON TO THE OTHER RESPONSE... THANKS CAROL... As far as symptoms are concerned, yes, unfortunately MSA can certainly cause frequent and urgent need to empty the bladder. WELL, THAT IS NICE TO KNOW. I IMAGINE IT MAKES SENSE TO OTHERS HERE, THAT IT IS NICE TO HAVE SOMETHING THAT CAN ACTUALLY EXPLAIN WHAT IS GOING ON - EVEN IF THERE IS LITTLE THAT CAN BE DONE FOR IT. The signals from the brain are " confused " and can cause the bladder to contract without warning. THAT IS PROBABLY WHAT I'VE GOT GOING ON - IF I HAD TO THEORIZE. MAKES THE MOST SENSE, AS I HAVE HAD CLEAR CATCHES MOST TIMES - SELDOM ANY INFECTION. BUT, EVEN THOSE THINGS SEEM TO POP UP AND DISAPPEAR. There are medications -- ditropan, detrol -- but they do have side effects (lowered blood pressure WELL - I DON'T NEED THAT. MY BP GOES TOO LOW ANYWAY , dry mouth, DON'T NEED THAT EITHER. confusion, DEFINITELY DON'T NEED ANY MORE OF THAT. constipation AND THIS ONE IS A DEFINITE NO NO - I ALREADY HAVE TO EAT LOTS OF PRUNES AND RAISINS DAILY - AND OTHER HIGH FIBER. TRYING TO DO THE NATURAL ROUTE TO LAXATIVE. SO FAR, I USUALLY HAVE A DECENT BM EVERY FEW DAYS - WHICH IS OKAY - BUT SOON I MAY HAVE TO GO ANOTHER ROUTE... so must be used with caution. THANKS FOR THE CAUTIONS BY THE WAY... MY BODY HAS ALWAYS BEEN SENSITIVE TO MEDS, AND WITH THE ONES THEY'VE TRIED ME ON - I HAVE HAD MORE PROBLEMS FROM THE MEDS THAN I WAS EXPERIENCING FROM THE DISEASE. IN FACT, I WAS SURPRISED MY BETA BLOCKER DOESN'T MESS ME UP - BUT THANKFUL FOR THE BLESSING. THANKS AGAIN TO ALL - AND ESPECIALLY YOU TWO. GOTTA GET FOR NOW. OFF TO WORK. HAD A RESPONSE WRITTEN, BUT MADE THE MISTAKE OF LOOKING BACK - WHICH WIPED IT OUT. NOW I REALLY HAVE TO GO (BOTH TO THE BATHROOM - AND TO WORK :-) I'LL READ THE RESPONSES TO MY OTHER POSTS LATER. AS I'M ABOUT TO GO DRIVE MYSELF AROUND AGAIN... I'LL DEFINITELY WAIT TO READ THOSE - FOR FEAR THAT EVERYONE WILL AGREE WITH ME. OFF TO DO MORE THAN I FEEL I SHOULD - BUT THAT IS HOW I SURVIVE - KEEPIN ON PRESSIN ON. THANKS AGAIN, PAUL
