Guest guest
plucked up the courage and spoke to my gp today, she said to me i may qualify for NHS treatment she is going to find out on monday and if so she will make an appointment for me to see the maxiofacial clinic at my local hospital, but the waiting list is long, she advised me agasinst paying private and that i should hold out for NHS, her words were you have waited this long another few years isnt going to make a difference. but thats just where she is wrong, i am so dpressed by this now, i know its a long procedure but surely waiting for the NHS is just making it longer.my gp told it that paying privatly will cost quite a few thousand pounds its a price i am willing to pay if its to make me feel like a normal human being . Guest guest
bless your heart!!! i know when you've made the decision to have it done, more waiting seems unbearable. i hope you get everything worked out faster than expected. > plucked up the courage and spoke to my gp today, she said to me i > may qualify for NHS treatment she is going to find out on monday and > if so she will make an appointment for me to see the maxiofacial > clinic at my local hospital, but the waiting list is long, she > advised me agasinst paying private and that i should hold out for > NHS, her words were you have waited this long another few years isnt > going to make a difference. but thats just where she is wrong, i am > so dpressed by this now, i know its a long procedure but surely > waiting for the NHS is just making it longer.my gp told it that > paying privatly will cost quite a few thousand pounds its a price i > am willing to pay if its to make me feel like a normal human being . Guest guest
Ok. We're dealing with several issues here. I am delighted that your gp knew what's going on and gave you a referral. Not all docs understand about the dental stuff, so that's a bonus for you! Now, i am > so dpressed by this now, i know its a long procedure but surely > waiting for the NHS is just making it longer. OK, again. Depression is often something that can be treated with good results chemically. I urge you strongly to talk with your GP about that one, too. Ask her for help. There are lots of drugs (Zoloft, Prozac, Effexor, Paxil, for examples) that can help with depression. Don't ask me how I know... I went through a bunch of them before I found the right ones -- so it may be a tedious process to get it right, but that can help more than you could imagine. Second thing, and probly more important than the first: Exercise, the right diet and the right vitamins can be even more effective against depression than the pharmaceuticals. Talk with your doc about this, too. Honey, it's not gonna happen quickly. Find out first how long the ortho prep (if you need it) will take, and then figure out how to manage when you get the surgery. I was in braces for about 16 months before I was ready for surgery, and that's shorter than a lot of others have waited. So find out what's needed and who should do it, first. Then worry about the timing and how to pay for it. Honest Injun... You have some thousands of pounds to throw at it -- great! But figure out what you need before you start building a schedule, honest. You can have surgery too early, if you can find a doc who's willing to do it. But you do not want to walk that path, truly. You want good results that will hold up. If it turns out that the wait is " a few years " after your mouth is ready, that's different. But see what's going on and what's recommended, before you decide.
